THE TRUTH ABOUT DATA ENTRY
I’m sure that you have seen or heard of this before:
“Make tons of money with out ever leaving the comfort of your home!”
Or how about this one:
“Make $$$ Each Day Using Your Computer”
Let’s face it; there are tons and tons of these types of ads. We see them in
spam, classified ads and even on television in commercials or paid
advertisements. They promise that you can make thousands of dollars a day
with out setting foot outside your home. All you need is a computer. Yeah,
these types of programs promise you great success. The truth is you should
be paying attention to the fine print. Especially if it is on television advertised
as a paid advertisement. The successful people shown (probably actors) are
sipping champagne and lying in the sun on their boats and sitting on the
hoods of their Mercedes. Did you ever notice the small lettering on the bottom
of the screen? Usually it will say something to the effect of that the results
shown are not typical. And that the results will vary. The web sites also have
disclaimers at or near the bottom of the page stating that by purchasing the
product, there is no implied guarantee for success. And the truth is that there
are very few people, if any that actually achieve any level of success at all.
You see, in the classified ad they usually put a website or a 1-800 number.
Well that is when you see or hear the fine print stating that success varies on
the individual. -1- As for the web site, you are promised many extras if you sign up within a
specific time allowed period. You are also promised many types of special
downloads that are worth hundreds of dollars once you buy the program.
They are all nice enough to let you have such valuable information for free.
The offers are made to seem lopsided as little money is able to purchase so
much information. They even promise you that all of the steps will be provided
as well. Why wouldn’t you want to purchase the program? I mean, aren’t you
tired of being poor? Or being forced to live from pay check to pay check? I
know, I am being facetious. But it really isn’t all that different from actual
advertisements. You feel great after you have read through all of the
testimony and successful user quotes. And let’s face it; we all want to believe
that it is true. You know, my Father always told me “If you think that it is too
good to be true, then it probably is.” And unfortunately he was right. In this
day and age, advertising to targeted consumers is very easy. It is also the age
of convenience. As soon as you want it, you can have it. The use of Pay Pal
and other payment methods in addition to credit cards make it easy for the
consumer to purchase anything from Television, Magazines, the Internet and
the radio. Many times without even having to leave their homes. Ok, you’re
happy. You want the product, your thinking “I can do this and make it work.”
You punch in all of your financial information and hit the place order button.
Your are redirected to a web page that thanks you for your order and that you
will be receiving a confirmation e-mail. The e-mail will also be your receipt. So
-2- now your starting to get excited about your new venture, I mean after all why
not? Just look at all the people that have been successful. You have more than
enough motivation to be successful as well! You feel that you might even do
better than them. Listen, I am not making light of the situation as it has
happened to me as well. So I am speaking from experience here.
All right, so now you have gotten the confirmation e-mail and all the links
To get you started. You click on them because you are rearing to get started
And you want to make money. As you start to read through the material you
slowly become aware that the program is a type of pyramid scheme. The way
you make money is to sell the program to some one else and receive a part of
the sales as commission. So now you start to feel like you got cheated and
wonder how your going to cheat someone else just to get your money back. You
also find out that the steps they told you about were ways of advertising their
program. The first thing they have you do is register with pay pal or another type
of payment affiliation. You do this in order to get “paid”. You then find out that you
Do not have to pay to advertise. They may provide you with a list of classified
web sites that are free to place your ad in. But if you want to make money
you will have to use either Yahoo or Google to make serious money. They
provide you with the steps and instruct you step by step. You later are horrified to
find out that your ads have been rejected because they do not accept ads that
are for “Data Entry” type “opportunities”. So now you have to reword it in hopes
to draw enough interested people into their web site so they can purchase the
-3- program using your link (which they also provide you with). You’re hoping to
make a sale because you were not made aware of how expensive it is to use
Yahoo and Google. The daily totals add up quickly and the monthly bill catches
you off guard. You suddenly become aware that the search engine will charge
you not only for being seen, but for someone clicking on your link. Whether they
purchase or not! Let me explain how the advertising methods work. First they
have you sign up with either Yahoo, Google or some other major search engine.
The way you word your advertisement is very important. As I indicated earlier, if
“Data Entry” is listed at all then your ad will probably be rejected. You will be
asked on how much you want to spend per day. You will also be asked on how
much you want to “bid” on the spot of your ad. When you put a price on your
bidding, your hoping that you are paying more than your competitor. The higher
the price you pay, the better the odds that people will see your ad. The way it
works, is that you set up a list of words that will describe what you are trying to
sell. These words are listed as “Key Words” and just to let you know, if the words
“Data Entry” or any type of “opportunity” are listed then they will probably
be rejected as well. You see, that field is so oversaturated it isn’t funny.
So most of the major search engines are trying to limit if not remove this type
Of trafficking. What it all boils down to is basically you have to sell their
program in order to receive a commission to make any money. You will have to
spend money in order to advertise as well. Like I told you earlier, they do
provide working “Free Advertisement” web sites. But the likely hood that
-4- people actually go there to read the classifieds instead of just going there to
place one of their own are pretty slim. I’m not saying that all Data Entry
“opportunities” are scams or pyramid schemes. All I’m saying is that you
want to do some research on the field that you’re interested in. Don’t just
purchase a program on a whim. Believe me; they will still be there ready to sell it
to you after the “special” time period expires and you have had time to rethink
your decision based on your research.
